Springdale, Arkansas — The IONM School by MAS, a comprehensive training and education program focused on Intraoperative Neurophysiologic Monitoring (IONM), is proud to announce its official accreditation from ABRET (the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists). This prestigious recognition makes The IONM School by MAS just the eighth ABRET-Recognized Formal IONM School in the United States, and the first and only one in Arkansas.
This milestone solidifies MAS’s commitment to advancing IONM education and clinical excellence. The program combines in-depth didactic coursework with immersive, real-world clinical experiences in hospital operating rooms. Students graduate with a robust understanding of the latest techniques, tools, and best practices in the field. The training prepares them for board certification as CNIMs (Certified in Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring)—a credential that opens the door to meaningful careers in IONM.
The ABRET accreditation serves as a strong endorsement of the school’s quality, further boosting the credibility of its graduates. Hospitals and healthcare institutions can trust that professionals trained at The IONM School by MAS are highly qualified to enhance patient outcomes, surgical safety, and the implementation of state-of-the-art neuromonitoring technologies.
Expanding Access and Breaking Down Barriers
One of the school’s most impactful contributions is its role in expanding access to the field. With ABRET’s introduction of CNIM Pathway IV, The IONM School by MAS offers a new route to certification for individuals who may not have had access through traditional channels—such as those requiring a bachelor’s degree, CAAHEP-accredited program, or previous EEG/EP certifications.
MAS CEO Brad Vinson shared his thoughts on how the school opens new doors:
“In our 17 years of service, we’ve met many talented and compassionate care providers—MAs, CNAs, CSTs—who had the heart and mindset to excel in IONM but lacked the formal qualifications. Through Pathway IV and The IONM School by MAS, we’re finally able to welcome these individuals into the field. It’s an opportunity to fulfill our mission: to serve our people so they can better serve our patients.”
Core Values in Action
The IONM School is not only a training ground—it’s a living embodiment of MAS’s mission and values. MAS COO Drew Stewart emphasized this:
“What makes this school so meaningful is how deeply it reflects MAS’s Core Values, Core Focus, and Mission Statement. It’s not just about teaching techniques—it’s about developing people. We’re integrating our values—Invest in Each Other, Deliver WOW, Humbly Serve, and FIOF—into a program that gives life to those ideals. Students learn not just the science of IONM, but the heart of what we do.”
By providing this accredited, mission-driven training, MAS ensures its graduates are not only skilled professionals but also empathetic and purpose-driven contributors to healthcare teams.
